Wimbledon and the International Cricket Council indulged in some light hearted banter over Roger Federer and his forward defence. The ICC was impressed with Federer’s shot and labeled him as a pure Test batsman.
The reigning Wimbledon champion over hit a backhand during his match against Adrian Mannarino and when his opponent returned the ball, Federer like a magician diverted it to the ball boy by punching a forward defence.
Sachin Tendulkar was impressed by his friend’s display and took to Twitter to praise the great player.
“As always, great hand-eye co-ordination. @rogerfederer, let’s exchange notes on cricket and tennis after you win your 9th @Wimbledon title,” said Tendulkar in his tweet.
Roger Federer responded to Sachin Tendulkar later in the day, saying that he is ready to take notes and there is no need to wait till the end of the event.
The god of cricket was quick to respond to the Swiss maestro and requested him to teach backhand shots.
“Ha ha ha..done. @rogerfederer, lesson 1 will be the straight drive only if you help me with my backhand my friend!!” he wrote.
Tendulkar further gave his best wishes to former world number one Tennis star.
“Unfortunately won’t be able to come see you play this year but will be glued to the televison…Wish you all the very best! Hopefully next year @wimbledon,” he wrote.
