Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has openly named Manchester City as the strongest team in Europe at the moment just as the knockout stages have kicked off.
Pep Guardiola's City have been imperious this season in the Premier League and are 16 points ahead of the rest of the pack at the top of the table. They began their Champions League knockouts phase with a thumping 4-0 win over Basel in the first leg of the Round of 16.
And Klopp has been left impressed by the way Mancity have dispatched teams this season although his Liverpool side remain the team that beat City in a surprise win recently.
Guardiola, a two time Champions League winner with Barcelona knows this competition very well and his experience coupled with the depth and experience in City's team make a lethal combo for them to win the Champions League this season.
"The strongest football team in this moment in Europe is Manchester City and we played them twice already at the highest level..." 👊 https://t.co/8pXwkA8Eq1— This Is Anfield (@thisisanfield) February 14, 2018
Speaking about who he thinks has the strongest squad in Europe at the moment, Klopp said, "I think probably the strongest football team in Europe at this moment is Manchester City. So we played them twice already at the highest level."
He continued, "PSG is a little different, but I don’t look at them, I know it already (we can compete with them). If we meet them (City) then we could beat them. That is how it is. The last 16 in Europe there are so many good teams around who want to be in the competition and we are in."
