Badminton ace Lee Chong Wei denies featuring in sex video, files police complaint

Lee Chong Wei, who is currently World No.2, wrote a Facebook post rubbishing speculations of him featuring in the porn video that has gone viral on social media.

Malaysian World No.2 badminton player Lee Chong Wei wrote a Facebook post on Tuesday denying his appearance in a sex video that has gone viral on social media.

Of late, social media has been abuzz with speculations of him featuring in the viral porn video and this seems to have irked the Malaysian shuttler big time as he came down hard at those trying to tarnish his image.

Dubbing it an act intended to slander, malign and defame his good name and character, the 35-year old informed that he had lodged a police complaint about it and would not hesitate in taking legal actions against those involved in the conspiracy. He also described these allegations as malicious and urged social media users to stop circulating the video.

Wei is married to Wong Mew Choo, a Malaysian former badminton player, and is father to two children.

“It has been brought to my attention that there is a pornographic video being circulated on social media in which it is alleged that I am purportedly one of the individuals featured in the said video. I categorically deny these malicious allegations and I state that I am not involved in any manner whatsoever with the said video and I am most certainly not a party featured therein,” he wrote in his Facebook post.

“These allegations are serious and purport to slander, malign and defame my good name and character. I have lodged a police report and the matter is being investigated by the PDRM. Given the severity of the attempted disparage to my good name and character, I reserve my rights and will not hesitate to instruct my solicitors to take any action deemed necessary to the full extent of the law against the parties and/or individuals responsible and/or culpable for creating and/or circulating such slanderous and defamatory material and allegations,”

“I urge all parties to stop circulating the video,” he wrote in his Facebook post,” he added.

The controversy has come to the fore ahead of next month’s release of ‘Lee Chong Wei: Rise of the Legend’, a biopic made on the legendary shuttler’s life. Lee, a three-time Olympic silver medallist, is at present preparing to defend his All-England Open title in Birmingham in March.
